Louisiana WIC Income Guidelines

See if you meet the Louisiana WIC income requirements. If you are looking to apply for WIC, then your household income will be taken into consideration when determining if you are eligible to receive Louisiana WIC benefits. To be eligible, applicants must have income at or below an income level or standard set by the state agency.

Or it can be determined that you are automatically income-eligible based on the programs the applicant is currently participating in. The state agency's income standard must be between 100% and 185% of the Federal poverty guidelines. Those guidelines are listed below.

Automatic WIC Income Eligibility

To be automatically income-eligible for Louisiana WIC, applicants would need to participate in certain programs. These include individuals who are eligible to receive SNAP (Food stamps) benefits, Medicaid, TANF or Families with Dependent Children.

Applicants who have certain family members that are eligible to receive Medicaid or TANF, or at the option of your state agency, individuals that are eligible to participate in certain other state administrated programs.

Louisiana WIC Income Requirements

A Louisiana WIC applicant is automatically income eligible to apply for the program if currently enrolled in either the Louisiana Medicaid Program, Louisiana SNAP (Food stamps), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), LA CHIP, or LA MOMS.

If not currently enrolled in at least one of the above programs, a family income screening will need to be completed. An individual may not participate in the LA WIC program at more than one site or state during the same month.

Please note, in the case of prenatal women, the fetus may be counted as part of the household. Any additional questions or concerns about income eligibility may be answered by calling 800-251-BABY or contacting your local WIC clinic.
